Night at the Museum, “The Eagle Diamond Caper”

Friday and Saturday, October 28 and 29, 5:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.

When the sun goes down, the exhibits at the Waukesha County Museum come alive! Families of all ages are invited to the Night at the Museum to solve “The Eagle Diamond Caper.” Follow the Waukesha detective through the museum, using clues from historic figures you meet along the way (including Sherlock Holmes), to find the diamond thief. There will be plenty of laughs, surprises, and intrigue for all!

Sherlock Holmes Halloween Spooktacular at Waukesha Family YMCA

William Gillette, America’s Sherlock Holmes

Wednesday, October 26 at 7:00 p.m. at the Waukesha Public Library

Local author Henry Zecher, who recently published a biography of one of the American theater’s great icons, William Gillette, will present his slide program.

Gillette is best-remembered today as the living personification of Sherlock Holmes. He wrote the first popular play about the detective. It was Gillette who brought Holmes to life and established for all time the image of Holmes with the deerstalker cap, the bent briar pipe and the profile, creating what may be the most instantly recognizable icon in the world. And it was from Gillette’s play that Hollywood film-makers derived the famous phrase, “Elementary, my dear Watson.”

Walk/Run for Hope

Saturday, October 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Join us for a morning walk/run around beautiful Frame Park in Waukesha and raise money to support over 6,000 individuals and families in Waukesha County who are in need of financial assistance, food, clothing and shelter. Choose the 5k run, 3k walk, or 1/2 mile or 1 mile kid’s run.

Hope Center is a nonprofit organization that is committed to serving people in need in Waukesha County. Waukesha Reads is collecting new and gently used children’s books at all October events for the Volunteers of Lake Country Free Children’s Library located at Hope Center.
